Students will learn how to manage the retailing environment with the emphasis on multichannel retailing, human resource management, customer relationship management, and visual merchandising management. Students are expected to work in groups for market research projects.

COURSE GOALS
By the end of the course, students should be able to answer the seven key questions about retailing: Who (type of retailers), What (Merchandise planning and product assortment), Why (role of retailing), When (eg. quick response system), Where (place strategy: retail site and store layout), and How (eg. multichannel retailing, online and mobile retailing). Students are expected to show full engagement in the group activities. The course will deliver industrial as well as academic knowledge regarding the topic of retailing. The final project will help students think and plan from the retailers’ perspective.
